Resurfacing of streets in Gugulethu and new speed hump for Seawinds

This week the City of Cape Town’s Roads, Infrastructure and Management Department will start resurfacing sections of Ngambu Street in Gugulethu, as well as install a speed hump in St Patrick Avenue in Seawinds. The work will be conducted Monday to Friday, between 08:00 and 17:00, until the end of May 2023, if all goes as planned. Although the affected streets will not be closed off entirely, residents can expect an increase in their regular travel times as there will be lane closures while work is ongoing.
The City plans to mill and resurface the following streets in Gugulethu:
• Ngambu Street, between Mkhanyisi Maphuma Street and Qabazi Street
• Khanya Crescent
• Thembani Road, between Ngambu Street and Qabazi Street,
• Nompendulo Close Cul De Sac
• Nokwanda Street Cul De Sac
In the Seawinds area a speed hump with signage will be installed on St Patrick Avenue.
To ease traffic congestion, work will be carried out one lane at a time and all road markings will be repainted.
‘We would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding during this time. We promise to deliver quality work within the specified timeframes. The resurfacing will revive and prolong the lifespan of Ngambu Street. The new speed hump in Seawinds will ensure the safety of all road users in this residential area,’ said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
